Below are our tried & true tips on getting yourself headshot ready:

Sleep: Be well rested. Get plenty of sleep the night before, eat healthy and light the day or two prior to the shoot. If you have trouble sleeping, we suggest trying these two yoga poses from Shape.com. They work wonders!

Curb the fun:  Curb you intake of alcoholic beverages, salt and gluten. These three offenders cause puffiness, dark circles, and accentuate fine lines & wrinkles.

PRO-Tip: Eeek! To combat puffiness & dark circles by drinking plenty of water throughout the days leading up to your shoot. Bottomline: Stay well hydrated.

Best Face Forward: Use your best foundation on the day of the shoot. Your skin should look flawless and luminous and a great foundation will be key. A little primer and setting spray will go a long way to keeping your face flawless throughout the shoot. If you are nervous about doing your makeup the day of, ask about makeup services. (take a look as these gorgeous foundations from Brydie.com )

Makeup:  Lipstick is always a good idea. A nice color that complements your skin and the tone of your shoot. Mascara and a soft liner will make your eyes appear larger, while still not looking too made up.

PRO-Tip: Use a tooth-whitening product the week or two prior to the shoot because nothing pairs better with great makeup then beautiful teeth.

Hair-Dos:  Hair should be neat and smooth, well groomed. Consider getting a trim a week or two prior to the scheduled shoot, not a day before. A professional blow out the morning of the shoot is a nice treat.

PRO-Tip: Good idea to bring your brush or hairspray/products with you to the shoot.

Keep it simple!  You're going to want to keep your clothing simple. Neutral mid-tones work best. Keep in mind that black can be too harsh for some people. Avoid busy patterns that can distract from your face. Most importantly be comfortable and wear a shirt/blouse that makes you feel good!

PRO-Tip: Since the headshot will primarily focus on the face and upper body, try to pick something that falls well on your shoulders and flatters your neckline. Asking a savvy yet honest friend is always a good idea.

Pay Attention to Detail: Nothing is worse than looking great and confident in a headshot only to see that your shirt is wrinkled. Wrinkled is never a good look. So, we suggest having your shirts, blouses, or jackets cleaned and pressed. In fact, prepare your outfit at least a week in advance. This will allow you to try on your outfit and see if you fill comfortable in your chosen outfit.

PRO-Tip: When trying on your outfit, be on the lookout for any tightness or unwanted bulges and missed stains or dirt spots. Remember, you want to feel comfortable & confident the day of your shoot.

If you follow these tips, we promise that it will make the whole experience of getting your headshot taken easier and will help you get the best headshot.
